Join us on Tuesday, May 6 for a free screening of the inspiring WETA documentary, Major Taylor: Champion of the Race. Hailed as the “first Black American global sports superstar,” the film retraces the life and legacy of Major Taylor—an American civil rights pioneer who set more than 20 world records in speed cycling during the heart of Jim Crow America. Major Taylor captured the world cycling championship, the American cycling crown, and had set dozens of world speed cycling records – all while having to endure withering racial pressures.
Attendees will receive a seat for the screening, along with complimentary popcorn and soda. Please register at the link below to confirm your spot. Please note you must arrive by 6:00 pm to guarantee your seat.
This free screening is presented in conjunction with WETA.
Note: photographers and videographers may be present to photograph/film the event for future promotional use. By attending, you grant your permission to be captured in event photography or videography.
