EVENT HISTORY
"GARAGE RACES IS A PARTY SURROUNDED BY A BIKE RACE."
The Garage Racing National Championship has evolved from its humble beginnings in 2012 as the Crystal City Diamond Derby into a full-blown tradition in National Landing. Inspired by a blog post about a scrappy bike race in a garage in Berlin and a love for unconventional bike racing, the event quickly grew from a single race to a weekly series, Wednesday Night Spins, and then to the legendary Crosshairs Garage Races. By 2019, it rebranded to the Garage Racing National Championship, becoming the ultimate celebration of bike culture in the D.C. region.
This event is a chaotic mix of fierce competition and non-stop fun. Whether you’re racing for the championship jersey or just watching the wild Anything Goes race, it’s a spectacle you can’t miss. The event draws riders from across the country, cementing its place as a must-do experience for bike enthusiasts. For over a decade, the Garage Racing National Championship has brought together riders, spectators, and the National Landing community, and it’s only getting bigger.
Garage Racing Nationals is not sanctioned by USA Cycling or any other governing body. First and foremost, this is for fun. But at the end of the day, you may also be a national champion. Learn more about the history of garage racing.
