Gallery Underground presents, in the Focus Gallery, “Ambient Light: Real and Imagined,” a show of work by Elisabeth Hudgins, Kat Jamieson, Linda Maldonado, Elise Ritter and Deborah Taylor as the members of Studio 10, a collaborative of five local artists who create and celebrate community-based art.

Painters are captivated by the nature of light and the creative expression of its many moods. One aspect is capturing the “ambient” light that surrounds and illuminates any environment, whether real or imagined. Interpretations can vary widely from landscapes in dazzling natural light to radiant abstracts that reveal a strong mood or belief. These painters interpret this compelling theme through their own lens and filters, as well as their medium of choice: watercolor, oil, acrylic, collage, and ink. Along the way, they discover that ambient light can be physical or spiritual; external or internal; real or imagined. With unique style and vision, each uses creative inspiration as a guide out of darkness into the light.

In the Main Gallery are new works by our members in all themes, in media including oil, acrylic, pastel, watermedia, sculpture, glass, ceramics, wood and metalwork.
