Join us for a screening of Origin, the critically acclaimed film by Ava DuVernay which is an adaptation of New York Times Bestseller Caste: The Origin of Our Discontents by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and native Washingtonian Isabel Wilkerson.

According to NPR, “Caste is a masterwork of writing — a profound achievement of scholarship and research that stands also as a triumph of both visceral storytelling and cogent analysis.” Through her analysis, Ms. Wilkerson examines the connections between India, Nazi Germany, and American inequality, and challenges the tools used to divide us.

The film explores Isabel Wilkerson’s journey of investigation and discovery as she writes Caste all while grappling with tremendous personal tragedy and loss.
