Crystal City BID's Cassie Bate Hurley Named 40 Under 40 Honoree
CRYSTAL CITY, VA – October 25, 2019 – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) is proud to announce that Cassie Bate Hurley is a recipient of the 2019 40 Under 40 awards presented by Leadership Center for Excellence.
The award honors trailblazers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the personal or professional sphere and are devoted to creating positive change within the DC region. Ms. Hurley, along with the other honorees, will be recognized for the positive impact of their leadership today at a luncheon at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA.
Crystal City is a more enjoyable place thanks to Ms. Hurley. A lifelong Arlingtonian, she has spent the majority of her career organizing and managing events in the community.
As Senior Events Manager at the Crystal City BID, Ms. Hurley is responsible for the planning and execution of over 200 diverse events each year. This robust calendar includes weekly favorites like Fridays at the Fountain and Outdoor Zumba, as well as the Crosshairs Garage Race Series, which is the region’s only underground bike race, and Oktoberfest, an annual celebration that drew a sellout crowd just weeks ago. Each of Ms. Hurley’s events help make Crystal City a popular destination for people throughout the capital region and build a stronger sense of community for those that live and work in the area.
“We are thrilled that Cassie is being recognized with this well-deserved honor. As the BID’s event guru, she is continuously strengthening our community programming through new ideas and partnerships,” said Tracy Sayegh Gabriel, President and Executive Director of the Crystal City BID. “She is an advocate for Crystal City and Arlington County and her passion for the community is evident in all of her fun and energizing events.”
Prior to joining the Crystal City BID in 2018, Ms. Hurley worked on the Development team at the Newseum and served as the Events & Development Director at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Beyond her professional endeavors, she volunteers for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and Phoenix Bikes.
