Crystal City BID Announces New Partnership with The Stand for Fridays at the Fountain
Live Music, Food, Drink, and Fun at the Water Park

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – Starting a month earlier this year, Crystal City’s summertime happy hour is back with a new partnership with The Stand and an exciting musical lineup.

"Fridays at the Fountain was so well received by the community last season, we decided to open a month early and look for ways to make it even better," said Robert Mandle, Chief Operating Officer of the Crystal City Business Improvement District. "This year's exciting line-up of local musicians and menu of rotating food options in partnership with The Stand by Common Ground will bring a uniquely local flavor that is sure to please."

Fridays at the Fountain is Crystal City’s seasonal pop-up beer garden set within the Crystal City Water Park featuring beverage selections from the Crystal City Wine Shop and live music from local bands and musicians. This year, the focus on local flavor is being enhanced by a partnership with The Stand which, in addition to providing the beverage service, will be featuring a rotating lineup of local restaurants and food vendors. Also new this year, attendees have the option of joining the Fridays at the Fountain “Mug Club” featuring a 16-ounce, branded mason jar mug, while supplies last.

Brought to Crystal City by Common Ground (a partnership by The Social Restaurant Group and the Catalyst Venture Group), The Stand is an expansive, colorful, outdoor setting for residents, commuters and visitors to enjoy the best new food trends the area has to offer. Remodeled from top to bottom, The Stand will not only serve a rotating menu of exciting foods from the area’s hottest vendors, but will also be a hub for social activities and community engagement, like Fridays at the Fountain.

"We at Common Ground are so excited about this partnership with the Crystal City BID,” said Dan Zhu, Managing Partner of Common Ground. “Through the partnership, we are fulfilling our corporate mandate in not only providing an outlet for exciting local businesses, but also becoming an integral contributor to the community."

Attendees will enjoy live music from a different band each week courtesy of the booking talents of Joe Herrera and Herrera Jazz. Joe is a full-time musician (trumpet player) and can be found on any given night of the week playing locally or on tour with national acts. Joe's Horns 2 Order business keeps him busy in the recording studio and in addition to teaching part time in inner city schools during the week. Joe also curates music series at various venues and events throughout the DMV. Originally hailing from Yuma, Arizona, Joe has been living and playing in the DMV 2003.
