Crystal City Business Improvement District Hires New Events Manager

Crystal City, VA – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to announce its recent hire of Cassie Hurley as Events Manager. In this role, Hurley will oversee the implementation and marketing of Crystal City’s sizeable portfolio of programs, partnerships, and events that consists of over 400 individual events and activities over the course of the year serving over 100,000 people.

Hurley is a lifelong Arlingtonian. She comes to the Crystal City BID with seven years of event planning experience and extensive experience with the Arlington business community. Most recently, Hurley worked as the manager for individual giving and sponsorship for the Newseum. There, she was solely responsible for the Newseum’s mid-level donor program. This background has helped Hurley to make an easy transition into her current position with the Crystal City BID. Prior to the Newseum, she worked for the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for four years, rising to be their events and development director. In that position she was responsible for the oversight and management of all Chamber events.

Hurley graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2010. In her “spare time,” she serves on the Development Committees for both Bridges to Independence and Phoenix Bikes, volunteers for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, and mentors a student in the Chamber’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy.
