From Star Wars to Sweets and Sips
New Film Festival Theme Celebrates “SIP”tember in Crystal City

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – Despite earlier confirmations with the movie licensing company, rights to publicly show the Star Wars movies for the Crystal Screen outdoor movie festival were lost due to an unexpected move from the DARK SIDE! So, we’re celebrating by drowning our sorrows in the comfort of sweets and sips. Please join us instead as we indulge this September with fun movies about wine and chocolate.

The Crystal Screen Sips & Sweets movie festival joins our Sip Your Way Through September (aka SIP-tember) line-up which includes the annual Sip and Salsa on Sunday, September 11th, Pups and Pilsners on Sunday, September 18th, and Wine in the Water Park every Friday throughout September.

Movies will be shown every Tuesday evening about 30 minutes after sunset on the lawn at 1901 S. Bell Street. Bring a picnic or take-out from area restaurants and enjoy sips from the pop-up wine bar (cash) with hand-selected offerings from the Crystal City Wine Shop and tasty sweet samples from Crystal City’s Schakolad.

Crystal Screen Sweets and Sips Schedule

• 9/6/16: Willy Wonka (1971) - Charlie receives a golden ticket to a factory, his sweet tooth wants going into the lushing candy, it turns out there's an adventure in everything.
• 9/13/16: Bottle Shock (2008) - The story of the early days of California wine making featuring the now infamous, blind Paris wine tasting of 1976 that has come to be known as "Judgment of Paris".
• 9/20/16: Chocolat (2000) - A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community.
• 9/27/16: Sideways (2004) - Two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment embark on a week-long road trip through California's wine country, just as one is about to take a trip down the aisle.
