National Landing Introduces Summer House, A Getaway for Work and Fun
Work, Play, and Celebrate Summer With Flexible Spaces and Engaging Programming Starting June 16 and Running Through The Summer
ARLINGTON, VA [JUNE 15, 2021] — The National Landing Business Improvement District (BID) today announced the launch of Summer House, a pop-up installation located at the Gateway Park Green (101 12th Street), where visitors can work, play and celebrate with co-workers, friends and family. When the destination officially opens on June 16, it will feature colorful, Instagrammable seating and displays, summer-themed giveaways, work-from-anywhere essentials like Wi-Fi, coffee and standing desks as well as home to a Summerhouse Series that will feature live music, summer camp-inspired activities, perfectly-planned picnics, and more.
“Summer House is more than an outdoor work space. It is a place to gather safely with co-workers and friends, enjoy the outdoors, experience the return of live music as well as a place to try your hand at fun outdoor games and summer activities,” said Tracy Sayegh Gabriel, President and Executive Director of National Landing BID. “Summer House reinforces National Landing’s commitment to activating our open spaces, partnering with our local businesses and creating an attractive gateway for our residents and visitors. We want Summer House to be your convenient summer getaway - even if it is just for an afternoon of work followed by free programming or a fun DJ session. See you in National Landing this summer.”
The brightly colored, beach-themed installation will take over National Landing’s Gateway Green (101 12th Street) as a co-working pop-up by day, and a meet up spot, happy hour destination and activation space by night. Starting June 16, visitors can easily set up shop for free at Summer House to experience life OOTO (out of the ordinary) while they work or celebrate with co-workers and friends.
From downward dog to DJ dance parties, Summer House will feature weekly Summer Series events through August that include giveaways, activities, and more such as:
-
Coffee Breaks: Enjoy free cold brew to fuel your workday while utilizing Summer House’s colorful desks and convenient Wi-Fi.
-
Happy Hour DJ Sets: Log off to the tune of your favorite summer jams with live DJs from across the DMV.
-
Camp Summer House: Get nostalgic for summer camp with activities like friendship bracelet-making, field day games, tie dye, and more.
-
Summer House To-Go: Take your friends on the ultimate summer picnic with all the necessities prepared by Summer House including food from local restaurants, coolers, koozies, and more.
-
Yoga & Cocktails: Close out the day with an energizing outdoor yoga class followed by complimentary cocktails.
With each installment of the Summer Series, National Landing BID is excited to be partnering with local businesses in the wider neighborhood. Between food pop-ups with local restaurants such as The Freshman, Peruvian Brothers, and more, to yoga classes taught by local instructors, Summer House looks forward to announcing more vendors throughout the season as the calendar fills up with fun and engaging programming. From the workday to the weekend, Summer House is the perfect place to gather with friends and coworkers– your summer home away from home.
