National Landing's Jazz @ Met Returns With Free Outdoor Concerts
NATIONAL LANDING’S JAZZ @ MET RETURNS WITH FREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS
Presented in Partnership with the DC Jazz Festival, Free 4-Part Series Features Live Music, Mocktails & Art Activities in Metropolitan Park, Select Thursdays: May 7 – June 18

WHAT: Back for another season, Jazz @ Met returns to Metropolitan Park with a free outdoor concert series celebrating the energy of live jazz in the heart of National Landing. Hosted by the National Landing BID, presented in partnership with the DC Jazz Festival and sponsored by Amazon, Jazz @ Met kicks off Thursday, May 7, and continues every other Thursday through June 18 with a diverse lineup of local and internationally influenced jazz artists.
Enjoy live performances spanning New Orleans jazz, Brazilian rhythms, go-go inspired jazz, and acoustic sets, all on the Central Green. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and enjoy onsite offerings like Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream and free samples from Mocktail Club—non-alcoholic beverages inspired by travel destinations. Plus, take part in hands-on art activities curated by artists from the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington’s Innovation Studio. Attendees are encouraged to stop by one of Met Park’s dining destinations for a bite to eat before, during, or after the performances.

- May 21: Joe Brotherton (New Orleans Jazz)
- June 4: Eric Byrd Trio (Acoustic Jazz Piano/Vocals)
- June 18: José Luiz Martins (Brazilian Jazz)

Art Activities from Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington Innovation Studio:
- May 7: “Even Colors Dance” (Synesthetic Watercolor)
Be guided in automatic and abstract resist watercolor painting while listening to the varying sounds of jazz music. Led by David Ignacio, current Resident Artist at Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington's main museum.
- May 14: “Paper Garden”
Make a flower collage postcard alongside the founder of Arlington Collage Collective, then put it in the post to send to family or friends! Led by Jaqui Falkenheim of Arlington Collage Collective.
- June 4: “Stitching Systems: Mapping Home”
Stitch a simple path with yarn and burlap that reflects some daily movement through your home. Each square will become a part of a growing collective quilt that maps how we move through and divide shared space. Led by Lauren Crawford, current Resident Artist at MoCA Arlington's main museum.
- June 18: “Day Inking with JD”
Screenprint a tote bag with the artist, then take a brain vacation while you collage a color-bursting postcard. Led by JD Deardourff, recent Resident Artist at MoCA Innovation Studio.
