Description
The Arlington National Cemetery Southern Expansion project will allow the Army to continue the honored tradition of laying our veterans to rest for generations to come. In addition to extending the cemetery’s operational lifespan, the project will:
a) enrich the visitor experience by creating a culturally significant and thoughtfully designed corridor that integrates the surrounding memorials;
b) deliver meaningful transportation improvements to nearby communities through the widening of Columbia Pike, as well as the addition of sidewalks and a dedicated bike lane; and
c) support Arlington National Cemetery’s ongoing maintenance and operational needs.
