Discover Black history in Arlington on a walk to honor Juneteenth led by Craig Syphax, a leader of the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington.
WalkArlington in partnership with Columbia Pike Partnership and the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington presents Juneteenth Black Heritage Walk.
This 1 hour and 30-minute walk will take place along the Pike and will include a guided walk with stops at St. John’s Baptist Church, Freedman’s Village Bridge, and more. Along the route, Craig will discuss the history of some of these significant sites, in addition to his family’s deep-rooted history in and around Arlington. The walk will end at Pike Park to enjoy musician Rick Franklin performing roots music at the farmers market.
Need to Know
We'll meet at Towers Park and walk up to St. John's Baptist Church, which is our first stop on the tour, located at 1905 Columbia Pike.
