Ride Into Bike Month In National Landing
RIDE INTO BIKE MONTH IN NATIONAL LANDING
As one of the region’s most connected areas, National Landing in Arlington invites the public to take part in free bike-focused events throughout May.

WHAT: In honor of National Bike Month, the National Landing BID and community partners are hosting several free cycling events this May, including classes, Bike to Work Day celebrations, a cycling classic and more. National Bike Month is the perfect time to highlight the connectivity of National Landing, which boasts more than 12 miles of bike lanes, nearly three miles of protected lanes, and direct connections to the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run Trail, all within a community where residents champion biking as an alternative to cars. - Adult Learn to Ride Class: Kick off National Bike Month with an Adult Learn to Ride Class in National Landing. WABA's experienced instructors break the skills down step by step to get you on a bike and rolling in no time. Participants learn to start and stop, balance, glide, pedal and steer a bike and progress at their own pace.
- WHEN: Sunday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- WHERE: Meet at 2611 South Clark Street, Arlington, VA 22202
- HOW: Register HERE.
- Community Bike Ride + Social Event: Join WABA, the National Landing BID and Conte's Bike shop for a community ride around the 16-mile Arlington Loop, starting in National Landing. People will have the chance to socialize at Maker's Union after the ride. The pace will be about 12mph.
- WHEN: Thursday, May 7 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- WHERE: The ride starts at Conte's Bike Shop in National Landing, 1350 South Eads Street, Arlington, VA 22202. Following the ride, all are invited to gather at Maker’s Union, 1450 South Eads Street, Arlington, VA 22202.
- HOW: Register HERE. Open to all.
- Bike to Work Day – National Landing Pit Stop: Join thousands of cyclists celebrating the 25th annual Bike to Work Day event with a stop at National Landing’s Pit Stop at Water Park. Featuring complimentary coffee and bites from Call Your Mother with Capital Deejays spinning on-site, National Landing’s Pit Stop also includes custom Bike Month jerseys, socks, and bike lights that will be raffled off every 15 minutes. There will be an additional two raffle giveaways for $500 gift cards to Conte’s Bike Shop—one at 8 a.m. and one at 9 a.m.
- WHEN: Friday, May 15, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- WHERE: Water Park | 1601 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA 22202
- HOW: Guests can register for National Landing’s Bike to Work Day pit stop HERE (select VA Arlington Co – National Landing at Water Park as the location).
- Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic: The Armed Forces Cycling Classic is the region’s premier cycling event, open to cycling enthusiasts of all abilities. Races on both days feature the nation’s top pro men and women, as well as kids’ races. On Saturday, the Challenge Ride, a 20-kilometer course open to cyclists of all abilities, starts and finishes in front of the Capitol, then heads into Arlington, through National Landing’s Pentagon City area, traveling up to Rosslyn and back.
- WHEN: Saturday, May 30 starting at 7 a.m. and Sunday, May 31 starting at 11:30 a.m.
