August 2021 - Letter from Executive Director

Dear National Landing Community,

We’ve had a busy summer across National Landing with continued development and construction progress, festive programming and new restaurant and retail openings –creating buzz and excitement for what’s ahead.

If you haven’t yet checked out our Summer House activation, there’s still time to join in on the fun and experience summer camp nostalgia in our community’s backyard. From Tuesday morning coffee breaks to live music and food trucks, we’re focused on providing creative ways to safely activate our public spaces and create fun and engaging experiences for those who live in and visit our area.

We’re also excited to extend our partnership with the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) and once again sponsor Summer Restaurant Week in National Landing. Summer Restaurant Week kicks off today and goes until August 15. Now more ever, our restaurant community needs our support so be sure to celebrate our restaurants and dine out, take out and eat up!

As we look ahead to the fall, we have much to be excited about! The National Landing BID in collaboration with its partners looks forward to celebrating upcoming milestones – including additional restaurant openings and the groundbreaking for the Crystal City metro plaza enhancements project, as well as the announcement of the mural wall artist competition. We are excited for the opening of the Long Bridge Park Aquatic Center and Esplanade expansion, the recently initiated planning process for the CC2DCA Intermodal Connector, the next phase of the Met Park project, and ongoing community discussions around the future of PenPlace.

In the coming weeks, we look forward to announcing new fall initiatives, business spotlights and “surprise and delight” moments across our district – as part of our fall Welcome Back campaign.

Stay safe and enjoy the rest of summer!

With appreciation,

TG
