July 2021 - Letter from Executive Director

Dear National Landing Community,

Summer has officially arrived in National Landing – and we’re excited to begin welcoming visitors and office workers back to our area this summer. It is our hope that residents and visitors begin to sense a return to normalcy as their favorite restaurants, businesses, fitness studios and more fully reopen. We’re also fortunate and excited to celebrate new additions such as The Freshman, RASA and Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery to our neighborhood.

To provide a safe and unique space to gather and work all summer long, we launched Summer House, our outdoor flex space. Summer House will not only be a space to work outside and gather with colleagues but will also feature exciting programming and partnerships with our local businesses. Some of the programming will include our Camp Summer House activities series, fitness events, live music and food trucks. Join in on the fun this summer and check out our calendar of events

We also continue to champion our vision for a greener, safer, better Route 1. If you haven’t already signed our “People Before Cars” petition that reinforces pedestrian safety and a more connected urban boulevard, be sure to sign it today. As a reminder, July 12 is the last day for the community to provide their feedback to VDOT’s proposed Route 1 plans.

If you missed our 2021 virtual Annual Meeting: Building for Tomorrow, you can view the video hosted on our website. Thank you again to our many partners and stakeholders who tuned in, and to our special guest speakers who shared personal stories and gave us a glimpse of what’s to come for our area’s bright future.

To close out Pride month, we also hosted our second event in our Equity in Action series, called “Creating Safe Spaces,” featuring some dynamic panelists and NBC4 media personality, Tommy McFly. This video can also be viewed on our website or social media. As we look beyond July, there’s a lot on our horizon as a district. At the BID, we remain committed to building an exciting and inclusive community for all to enjoy. Please stay connected with us on our website and social media to stay in the know of what’s happening across National Landing. Have a safe summer!

With appreciation,

TSG
