September 2021 - Letter from Executive Director

Dear National Landing Community,

Fall air will soon be arriving and we’re looking forward to welcoming new festive autumn activities to our portfolio this year – as well as continuing the exciting retail openings across National Landing.

If you still haven’t explored Summer House, there’s still time left to relive the nostalgia of summer camp and take in the final days of summer with friends and family or with your colleagues as a fun outdoor workspace. We’ll also be hosting the final events of the Camp Summer House series this month, with the long-awaited Camp Cookout extravaganza on Wednesday, September 8. Don’t miss out!

Congratulations to our partners at Arlington County Parks on the grand opening of the Long Bridge Park Aquatics & Fitness Center and Esplanade expansion. We look forward to officially celebrating this milestone later this month with a full weekend of family-friendly activities.

Not only do we remain committed to building on our role as a guiding force behind community engagement, but we’re also focused on continuing to advance key transportation projects to ensure that National Landing becomes one of the most connected urban districts across the country. Recently, we launched the People Before Cars Coalition with local stakeholders to highlight our shared priorities in creating a safer and more accessible transportation network across National Landing. To support the Coalition or to read more, visit our Coalition website.

At the BID, we’re also focused on additional exciting fall milestones including the upcoming annual Parking Day on September 17, the groundbreaking for the Crystal City metro plaza enhancements project, as well as the announcement of the mural wall artist competition. People want to live and work in vibrant locations, and these projects are a prime example of how we are enhancing quality of life with an enlivened streetscape and growing amenities.

Stay connected with us this fall as we continue to create buzz and excitement! We look forward to announcing the return of fall favorites, and many new “surprise and delight” moments as part of our fall “Homecoming” campaign.

With appreciation,

TG
