November 2021 - Letter from Executive Director

Dear National Landing Community,

Fall is here – and we’re beginning to feel and see the return of energy to National Landing! We hope you’re feeling inspired and energized as well – as we continue to have much on the horizon to look forward to across our district.

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate “Homecoming” with us – we enjoyed painting pumpkins, swinging in hammocks, cycling outside to the beat of the music and helping to refresh your portfolio with new headshots. What a great way to celebrate our community and the spirit of togetherness!

We recently broke ground on the Crystal City metro plaza enhancement project in collaboration with JGB SMITH. The project has a completion timeline of early winter 2022. Through this project, it is our hope that this plaza will serve as an inviting gateway to our district through the creation of a more enriched and welcoming space for our residents, workers and visitors. Enhancements will include expanded seating options, increased landscaping with new trees, updated lighting and an overall more open and refreshed space.

As a complement to the metro plaza enhancement project, we’ve just completed a truly inspirational art mural called “Harmony” by local artist, Lisa Marie Thalhammer. We encourage you all to go explore this bold beautiful mural to feel it’s warm embrace that features a full spectrum of color.

We applaud Arlington County and Amazon on their recent announcement and partnership that will fund a permanent home and state-of-the-art facility for Arlington Community High School (ACHS) as part of the future PenPlace development. Not only does this announcement reinforce the investments being made to help create a more equitable future for all Arlingtonians – but also works to provide more pathways to opportunity.

As we approach the holiday season, look out for new seasonal programming announcements, including a local pop-up market that will feature “Made in Arlington” businesses. As part of our efforts, it remains critical that we continue to support our local businesses and drive our creative economy.

As always, stay healthy and connected with us throughout the season! We look forward to seeing you in National Landing this fall.

With appreciation,

TSG
